ESGNexus Policy
Version 1.0 – Effective July 2026
1. Our Commitment
Errors are inevitable in any publishing operation. What distinguishes responsible journalism from irresponsible publishing is not the absence of errors – it is the honesty and speed with which they are addressed.
2. Types of Errors
| Error Type | Description | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Factual Error | Incorrect figure, date, name, statistic, or statement of fact. | Correction required |
| Attribution Error | Data point or quote incorrectly attributed to the wrong source, person, or year. | Correction required |
| Contextual Error | Correct facts presented in a context that creates a materially misleading impression. | Clarification required |
| Minor Error | Spelling mistakes or formatting issues that do not affect meaning. | Silent correction permitted |
3. How to Report an Error
Errors in Articles or Analysis
Email: editor@esgnexus.lk
Subject line: Correction Request – [Article Title]
Include the specific error, the correct information, and the source that supports the correction.
Errors in Company Profiles or Data
Email: data@esgnexus.lk
Subject line: Data Correction – [Company Name]
Include the specific data point, the correct figure, and the source document with page number.
4. Review Process
| Timeframe | Action |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Request received and acknowledged by email |
| Days 1-3 | Editorial review: verify the claim against cited source and original documents |
| Days 3-5 | Decision: error confirmed, not confirmed, or further information requested |
| Days 5-7 | Correction published (if confirmed) and submitter notified |
| Day 10 (maximum) | All requests resolved or in active follow-up within 10 business days |
5. How Corrections Are Published
Substantive Corrections
- A correction notice is added at the top of the article or profile, clearly marked.
- The notice states: what the original said, what it now says, and the date of the correction.
- The article is not deleted – the original with corrections marked is retained for transparency.
- If the correction materially changes the headline, it may be updated with an explanatory note.
Minor Corrections
Spelling and formatting corrections may be made silently, provided they do not change the meaning of the content.
Contextual Clarifications
Where misleading framing is identified, ESGNexus may add a clearly labelled clarification note without altering the original text.
6. Right of Reply
Companies, individuals, or organisations that believe they have been misrepresented may request a right of reply. Submissions must:
- Be submitted within 14 calendar days of the original publication
- Be factual and not defamatory of third parties
- Be signed by an authorised representative
- Be submitted to editor@esgnexus.lk
Accepted submissions will be published as a clearly labelled response or addendum. A right of reply is an opportunity to provide factual context – not a mechanism to demand retraction of accurate reporting.
7. Deletion Requests
ESGNexus does not delete accurate content on request. Content will only be deleted where: (a) it contains personal data that must be removed under the PDPA, (b) it is found by a court to be unlawful, or (c) it was published in error and continued publication causes demonstrable harm that outweighs the public interest.
8. Escalation
If you believe ESGNexus has failed to follow this policy, escalate by contacting hello@esgnexus.lk marked ‘Escalation – Correction Complaint’. All escalations are reviewed within 10 business days by the founding editor.
