ESGNexus Policy

Version 1.0 – Effective July 2026

This policy governs how ESGNexus.lk selects, researches, writes, edits, and publishes all content. It applies to every article, company profile, data brief, analysis piece, and sponsored content item we produce.

1. Purpose and Scope

ESGNexus.lk is Sri Lanka’s independent platform for ESG, CSR, and sustainability intelligence. This Editorial Policy establishes the standards, principles, and processes that govern all content published on the platform – including news articles, analysis, company profiles, data summaries, interviews, and sponsored content.

This policy applies to all content contributors, whether employed by ESGNexus, engaged as freelancers, or contributing as guest authors. It is reviewed annually and updated as the platform evolves.

2. Editorial Mission

ESGNexus exists to make Sri Lanka’s corporate sustainability landscape transparent, understandable, and accountable. Our mission is to provide accurate, independent, and well-sourced intelligence on ESG, CSR, and sustainability – serving corporates, investors, regulators, development organisations, and civil society.

We are not a press release aggregator. We do not republish corporate communications without independent analysis, context, or verification. Every piece of content we publish must add informational value that the reader cannot get from the source document alone.

3. Editorial Independence

ESGNexus operates with full editorial independence. Commercial relationships – including advertising, sponsored content, company memberships, and event sponsorships – do not influence editorial coverage, rankings, ratings, or assessments.

The following rules are non-negotiable:

  • Advertisers and sponsors cannot request, influence, or veto editorial coverage of themselves or their competitors.
  • Payment for a sponsored content feature does not alter how a company is covered in our independent editorial sections.
  • Company profiles, data assessments, and analytical rankings are determined solely by publicly available evidence and our editorial methodology.
  • The founder and editorial team will not write, approve, or publish content that misrepresents a company’s ESG performance in exchange for commercial consideration.
If you believe ESGNexus has violated its editorial independence, contact editor@esgnexus.lk. All such complaints are reviewed within ten business days.

4. Sources and Verification

Every factual claim published on ESGNexus.lk must be traceable to a primary or credible secondary source:

Source TierWhat It Covers
Tier 1 – PrimaryAnnual reports, sustainability reports, CSE filings, regulatory publications, official government statistics
Tier 2 – Credible SecondaryCA Sri Lanka, CBSL, GRI, UNDP/World Bank publications, peer-reviewed research
Tier 3 – ReportageMajor newspapers, wire services (Reuters, Bloomberg), established ESG media
Tier 4 – Supporting ContextCompany press releases, CSR web pages – used for context only, always labelled as company-sourced

Unverified claims and unattributed data points will not be published. All data points in company profiles must include a source citation: Company, Document Title, Year, and page number where possible.

5. Use of Research Tools and Technology

ESGNexus uses a range of research tools – including AI-assisted tools – to support the efficiency of our research and editorial process. These tools assist with source identification, document summarisation, and initial drafting.

All content published on ESGNexus.lk is written, edited, verified, and approved by a human editor. No content is published without full human review and sign-off. The editorial judgement, sourcing decisions, and factual verification behind every article are the responsibility of the ESGNexus editorial team.

ESGNexus does not use AI tools to fabricate quotes, generate unverified data points, or produce claims not grounded in primary source documents.

6. Content Standards by Category

6.1 News Articles

News articles cover recent developments in Sri Lanka’s ESG, CSR, and sustainability landscape. They must be timely, factual, and concise. Most important information first. News articles cite primary sources and are published within 24 to 72 hours of the triggering event where possible.

6.2 Analysis and Insight

Analysis pieces interpret news, data, or trends in depth and represent the editorial judgement of ESGNexus. They must be grounded in evidence, present multiple perspectives where relevant, and acknowledge the limits of available data. Opinion must be clearly labelled as such.

6.3 Company Profiles

Company profiles present publicly available ESG and CSR data in a structured, standardised format. All data points are sourced from Tier 1 documents and carry a source date stamp and standard disclaimer. Companies may submit corrections via our Correction Policy.

6.4 Leadership Interviews

Interview content is subject to the interviewee’s approval for direct quotes only. ESGNexus retains full editorial control over framing, context, and surrounding analysis.

6.5 Sponsored Content

  • All sponsored content must be clearly labelled ‘Sponsored’ or ‘Partner Content’ in the article header and in any social media promotion.
  • Sponsored content must be factually accurate and comply with the same source standards as editorial content.
  • ESGNexus will not publish sponsored content that makes false or misleading claims about ESG performance.
  • Sponsored content cannot be presented as or confused with independent editorial coverage.
  • A sponsored content relationship does not entitle the sponsor to influence editorial coverage elsewhere on the platform.

7. Corrections

Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are identified or reported, with a prominent correction notice. Full details in our Correction Policy.

To report a correction: editor@esgnexus.lk

8. Conflicts of Interest

All contributors must disclose any material conflict of interest before publishing content about a company, individual, or organisation. Conflicts include personal shareholdings, business relationships, family connections, or prior employment. A contributor with a material conflict will not write primary coverage of the relevant entity.

9. Legal and Ethical Standards

  • We do not republish copyrighted text verbatim. We extract facts, rewrite in our own words, and attribute the source.
  • We do not publish personal data about private individuals without their consent.
  • We do not publish content we have reason to believe is false and likely to damage a named individual or company.
  • We provide a right-of-reply process for those who believe they have been misrepresented.

10. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually. Feedback: editor@esgnexus.lk
